BioStruct-X will be sponsoring the 11th International Conference on Biology and Synchrotron Radiation, which will take place in the centre of the city of Hamburg from the 8th - 11th September 2013. Come along and meet up with scientists involved in the research and development of synchrotron and free electron laser sources, and a broad community of biologists with the ambition of making the best out of the most advanced infrastructures in structural biology. Travel grants for young researchers are also available! More information can be found here

The next deadline for applying for funding for TNA is August 15th. Please refer to the Apply for Funding pages for more information on how to apply. We are also pleased to be able to mention that access to Work Package 5 platforms is also now available. The final application deadline for 2013 will be December 31st.

EMBO Practical Course on the Structural Characterization of Macromolecular Complexes held in Grenoble, France

From the 4th – 9th June 2012, the EMBO Practical Course on the Structural Characterisation of Macromolecular Complexes took place in Grenoble, France. Twenty students from 18 different nationalities took part in the course which consisted of a series of 24 lectures and 12 practical sessions. Read more...
First EMBL Advanced Course on Hybrid Structural Biology Approaches held at EMBL Hamburg

From the 11th – 16th June 2012, EMBL Hamburg hosted the first EMBL Advanced Course on Hybrid Structural Biology Approaches. Sixteen students from across Europe attended the 6 day course which included lectures and practical sessions on Sample Preparation and Characterization, Small Angle X-ray Scattering, Marcomolecular Crystallography and Electron Microscopy. HERCULES school 2012 on Neutrons and Synchrotron Radiation for Science

The HERCULES annual session 2012 ran from March 4th – April 5th. Over 80 participants attended the course, with 25 students taking part in "session B: Biomolecular structure and dynamics" following a common, general week together. Although the intense training provided by the course is considered essential, the opportunity to establish a multidisciplinary network of young scientists in Europe is also very much appreciated by all participants. First course held at the BioStruct-X TID centre in Oulu

20 students from across the world took part in the Data to Structures course held at the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Oulu in Finland. The 5 day course included lectures, demos and hand-on tutorials. The stimulating atmosphere made for lively discussions and a successful course. Read more...
BioStruct-X project kick started!

On the 5th and 6th of December 2011, the BioStruct-X kick-off meeting took place in EMBL Hamburg. The BioStruct-X kick-off meeting welcomed ca. 100 participants to the DESY campus in Hamburg and gave future users, user representatives, partners and coordinators the opportunity to meet and discuss plans and progress so far.
